MATILDA

¡Hola a Todos! Tanto tiempo otra vez, no? Me he prometido a mi misma escribir más asiduamente, espero cumplirlo. También he pensado en pasarme a un blog audiovisual en Vimeo o Youtube, pero ya hablaré de ello más adelante.

   Hoy quería contarles que hace un par de semanas ya no vivo sola. El 1 de marzo fui hasta Málaga a recoger a  mi pequeña Matilda. Luego de ver las fotos, díganme si no es un amor.

   Prácticamente ya está habituada en su nueva casa y hace un par de días, Jose, su nuevo veterinario en Madrid, le ha puesto las últimas vacunas y ya hemos bajado al parque a jugar dos veces (Donde por cierto la pasa fenomenal).

   Este viernes nos vamos juntas a California, por eso, estos últimos días, estuvimos de un lado a otro tramitando su pasaporte y el certificado de salud que expide el Ministerio de Agroindustria para cuando un perrito viaja a algunos países como Estados Unidos.

   No cabe dudas que Matilda será muy mimada y consentida.

Hello everybody! It's been a long time since my last post. I know. I'm sorry. I've promised myself to write more assiduously, I hope I'm able to do that. I have also thought of creating an audiovisual blog on Vimeo or YouTube, but I'll talk about that in another post.

   Today I wanted to tell you that since a couple of weeks ago I haven't lived alone anymore. I went to Malaga on March 1st with the purpose of picking up my beautiful and little Matilda. After seeing the pictures you an tell me whether or not she is absolutely gorgeous.

   She's already used to her new home and a couple of days ago, Jose, her new vet in Madrid gave her last vaccinations and we could finally go to the park to play. We went twice already actually and she really loves it.

    This coming Friday, both of us are going to California, therefore, these past days we have been driving up and down doing the paper work to get her passport and also the health certification that is required for a puppy when visiting some countries such us the United States.

   I've no doubts Matilda is going to be very spoiled and loved!

¿Les dije alguna vez que detesto ir al supermercado cada semana? Pues bien, lo detesto. La cuestión es que este pasado viernes fue distinto. Estaba haciendo la compra mientras me tomaba mi café latte, el que siempre abro y termino antes de llegar a la caja, cuando de repente lo vi sentadito en una góndola en medio del pasillo y créanme, fue amor a primera vista. No fui muy original con el nombre, pero les presento a Ted J. Desde ahora dejaré de dormir sola todas las noches y Eugenio, mi osito bebé, tendrá un nuevo amigo. 

Did I tell you how much I dislike going to the supermarket every week? Ok, I can't stand it. However, last Friday it was very different. I was shopping while drinking my caffe latte, the one that I always open and drink it all before getting to the cashier, when I suddenly saw him sitting on a gondola in the middle of the aisle and believe me, it was love at first sight. I was not very original with his name, but let me introduce you to Ted J. From now on I'll stop sleeping alone and Eugenio, my baby teddy bear, will have a new friend.

El fin de semana pasado fui a caminar por el parque de la Polvoranca -al sur de Madrid- con un amigo fotógrafo que me estaba explicando como usar mi cámara correctamente. He tomado algunas fotos pero al final terminé posando. Me sigo preguntando ¿qué será lo que voy a terminar haciendo? 

Last weekend, I went to have a walk in La Polvoranca park -southern Madrid- with a friend who is a photographer and who was explaining to me how to use my camera properly. I took some pictures but at the end I had to strike a pose. I'm still wondering what is what I'm going to end up doing?

No voy a decir que no volveré a ponerme frente a una cámara porque me divierte mucho posar y verme guapa como a toda mujer, pero he descubierto, gracias a la clase de Lenguaje Audiovisual de mi carrera -Periodismo-, un nuevo pasatiempo. Ha empezado a fascinarme el hecho de ponerme detrás del lente de mi cámara y buscar historias, sentimientos, belleza en la naturaleza y en nuestra tan compleja cultura humana y plasmarla en una foto. Seguramente, lo he pensado, esto será la continuidad de mi infancia rodeada de bastidores y óleos. 

I won't say that I'm not going to step in front of a camera anymore because I love posing and looking pretty like every woman, but I've just discovered, thank my Audiovisual class of my career - Journalism-, a new hobby. I'm starting to love the fact of stepping behind my camera lens and look for stories, feelings and beauty in nature and our so complex human culture and register that in a picture. Surely, I've thought of it, this is going to be the continuity of my childhood surrounded by drying oil and frames.

SUR DE FRANCIA. South of France

He estado viajando por la costa sur de Francia: Marcella, Saint Tropez, Cannes, Niza y Mónaco. ¿Qué puedo decir? Una belleza. 

    Marcella tiene una linda vista del puerto desde el faro y una vista impresionante de la ciudad desde la catedral de Notre-Dame de la Garde. Saint Tropez es muy nombrado y el puerto esta lleno de yates de lujo, pero sinceramente, no me ha llamado mucho la atención, aún así las playas eran muy lindas. Cannes, según mi opinión, se lleva todos los premios en la Costa Azul: es una ciudad pequeña pero preciosa y con un estilo único. Muy lujosa y super trendy. Niza tiene una costa muy amplia, ideal para correr y hacer ejercicio pero sus playas son de piedras. No muy buenas. Mónaco fue mi segunda favorita, especialmente la parte de Monte Carlo.

I've been working all along the south of France: Marcelle, Saint Tropez, Cannes, Nice and Monaco. What can I say? It's breathtaking.

    Marcella has a nice view of the port from the light-house and a very nice over view of the whole city from the cathedral of Notre-Dame de la Garde. Saint Tropez is very famous and its port is full of luxury yachts, but honestly, it was not that interesting to me. However the beaches looked really good. Cannes, up to me, wins all the awards from the French Riviera: it's a small but beautiful city with a unique style. Very luxury and very trendy. Nice has a wide coast, good to go for a run and exercise but the beaches are stone-made. Not very good. Mónaco was my second favourite one, specially Monte Carlo area.

BARCELONA: La Sagrada Familia

La última vez que vine a Barcelona, un viaje con mi ex-novio un año atrás, no pude entrar a ver la Catedral por dentro. Me habían dicho que era preciosa, incluso, había visto una postal y dije "wow, qué interesante". Esta vez, saqué el ticket por internet, €20, y fui a verla. Solo voy a decir que quedé impactada por tanta belleza, y a la vez por lo "hermosamente absurdo" que el diseño me resulta. Pensé que Gaudí se había pasado con su parque Güell, sin embargo, la Sagrada Familia, al mi parecer,se lleva todas las medallas. En Roma veré si la Capilla Sixtina la supera, pero hasta hoy, es la Catedral más imponente que he visto.

The last time I came to Barcelona, a trip with my ex-boyfriend a year ago, I could't see the inside of the Cathedral. I was told that it was gorgeous, what is more, I had seen a postcard and I said "wow, how interesting". This time, I booked the ticket on the internet, €20, and went to see it. I'm just going to say that I was astonished by its beauty, and also by its beautiful and absurd design. I thought Gaudí did his best with his Park Güell, however, La Sagrada Familia, for me, takes all the awards. In Rome I'll see whether the Sixtine Capel  is better, but up to today, it's the most outstanding Cathedral that I've ever seen.

YOSEMITE & SEQUOIA

Hace unos días tuve la gran oportunidad de conocer dos parques famosos en EEUU: Sequoia National Park  y Yosemite National Park.

Particularmente me ha gustado mucho más el parque de las Sequoias gigantes ya que el Yosemite Park ha sufrido un gran incendio el año pasado, pero más especialmente porque entrar a la "selva de los gigantes" te quita el aliento. Son árboles de más de 2.500 años de edad y de más de 100 metros de altura y cuyo tronco puede pesar más de 1.350 toneladas. ¡Son magníficos! Dicen que su longevidad es debido a su inmunidad ante insectos e incendios. 

El valle del Yosemite no fue alcanzado por el fuego y vale la pena visitarlo.

A couple of days ago I had the opportunity to visit two famous parks in the US: Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks. 

Personally, I loved Sequoias the best since Yosemite is still being recovered from the 2013 fire, but specially because entering the "Giant Forest" takes your breath away. There are trees that are over 2.500 years old and over 350ft tall and whose trunks can weight more than 1.350 tons. They are magnificent! It's said that their longetivity is due to their resistance to insects and fires. 

Yosemite Valley wasn't touch but the fire and it is worth the visit too.
